Steve Harvey Apologizes for Mistaking Miss Universe Winners
Following Harvey’s alleged cue-card fumble – Miss Colombia was named 2015’s Miss Universe, only to have the crown taken off her head and given to Miss Philippines – Trump turned self-congratulatory, retweeting calls for his renewed ownership of the pageant.
He announced the wrong lady as victor.
Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez-Arévalo have also had their say on the matter, with Ariadna commenting: “Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy”.
Comedian Steve Harvey has publicly apologised for crowning the wrong model Miss Universe during the live pageant on Sunday night.
“I’m really upset with the results and so are the other girls”, Miss Germany continues.
Meanwhile, Miss Universe pageant’s former owner Donald Trump said he would like to make Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia a co-winner of the crown.
“It was then that he told me that they validated the results and the top 5 were jumbled, so I was no longer the victor”, she said. “The first runner-up is Colombia”, he went on, “Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines”.
A visibly-stunned Wurtzbach walked to the front of the stage, her eyes wide in disbelief.
Wurtzbach is the third Filipina to be crowned Miss Universe, ending a 42-year drought for the country. According to several South American reports, Colombians are not buying it. They do not believe it was an “honest mistake” as Harvey tweeted apologizing.
Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez is philosophical after being mistakenly crowned Miss Universe.
Showing the card to the camera, he says, “I will take responsibility for this”.
It was the pageant’s first time on Fox, and the Nielsen company said the contest was seen in the United States by 6.2 million people – strong numbers for the network.
