Steve Harvey laughs off Miss Universe incident in Christmas message
Miss Colombia 2015, Ariadna Gutierrez (L), was mistakenly named as Miss Universe 2015 instead of First Runner-up. “To Ariadna, you are an wonderful woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience”.
“I know how much pride many countries, fans and most importantly, the contestants take in preparing for this night”.
“I felt calm when I was called first runner-up because I felt it was fate”, she said. The Miss Universe organization issued an apology on Monday as well. Arguing and sending hateful messages to each other defeats the whole objective.
After winning the crown in Las Vegas last week, she flew to New York City to do her duties as Miss Universe 2015. I was happy because I really wanted to win but felt sad for Miss Colombia…
Steve Harvey’s mistake might not have cost him a chance to host the pageant again, but it has spurred anger in Miss Colombia’s native country, and let many to imagine a divisive rivalry between the two Miss Universe contenders.
According to Time, Harvey’s post went over extremely well with the internet. “Steve Harvey won 2015”. He quickly corrected the spelling mistakes and deleted the tweet. Harvey posted a link to the site on his Facebook page.
Entertainment Tonight reported that he will likely be back on the show next year, considering he signed a big money multi-year contract to host it just days before the pageant.
And the Miss Universe title holder had a few words to say to those enraged by the pageant blunder.
He said: “Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well”.
Also, besides his fans liking and re-tweeting Harvey’s Christmas Day tweet, some have commented with tweets of their own, mentioning how much they love Steve Harvey.
The Miss Universe fiasco is still fresh in our minds.
