Steve Jobs Widow Laurene Powell Reportedly Told Leonardo DiCaprio
Nearly four years after the death of Steve Jobs, the legacy of the iconic Apple co-founder continues to be debated in books and on film. “I remember saying out loud, ‘God, I’m so knackered.’ And the props woman, who I knew from a couple of other jobs, said, ‘Honey, we’re here for a lot longer than you are”.
According to a source from the team, Laurene had been trying to kill this movie since the very beginning. It can be said to be a version of “A Christmas Carol” from writer Aaron Sorkin with Jobs being portrayed as Scrooge. “Steve Jobs” the movie seems to be a better tale than Steve Jobs the person.
“This is simultaneously Sorkin’s most satisfying movie script and Boyle’s most graceful work as a director”, he says, adding Kate Winslet is an “irresistible force of ferocious power and emotion” as Joanna Hoffman.
Sorkin apologized to Tim Cook in front of Conan, although it was more of an “I’m sorry you’re upset” apology than an “I’m sorry for what I said” one.
Before Michael Fassbender was cast as Steve Jobs, the biopic went down a long and complicated road in pre-production.
Sorkin told: “Then without much prodding at all you begin to feel like you’re talking to Garfunkel who is talking about Paul Simon”.
An unnamed studio executive says that Laurene Jobs “did call one or two of the actors”.
Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of late Apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs.
Why is Apple against the movie? “Again, we are celebrating Steve’s life, and at the same time, we are [seeing] the incredibly choreographed release of a film about him, and I don’t recognize that man at all”.
“Steve Jobs” is in theaters now. I think there’s a scene that Michael and Jeff had that was about 14 pages, so it really went for 11 minutes of continuous dialogue. Jobs so touched the world that many around the globe were struck with grief when he died in his Silicon Valley home on October 5, 2011.
