Steve Johnson handed one-match ban
Johnson was charged with rough conduct for a high bump on Sydney Swans opponent Josh Kennedy, which was graded as careless conduct, with medium impact to the head.
Jones was one of his team’s better players before he collided with Giants forward Sam Reid in the final quarter of the match, which the Swans lost to the Giants by four points.
Sitting the weekend out: Steve Johnson.
The 33-year-old risks missing the grand final with a two-match ban in the highly unlikely event the Giants challenge his sanction.
It marks the second time Johnson has been ruled out of a playoff game through suspension, having missed an elimination final in 2012.
The 2007 Norm Smith medallist missed an elimination final in 2012 after being handed a one-match ban.
Giants ruckman Shane Mumford was cleared for his vicious tackle on Kurt Tippett while Hawthorn skipper Luke Hodge has no case to answer despite a skirmish with Joel Selwood.
Tippett was diagnosed with a fractured jaw but the MRP found he had sustained the injury during a ruck contest earlier in the game.
“Tippett’s right shoulder and right side of his body make contact with the turf, while his head does not hit the ground at any stage during the tackle”, the MRP said in its findings.
