Steven Adams with massive alley-oop as Oklahoma City Thunder win big
The Los Angeles Lakers are a long way from being the dominant juggernaut that we have all been accustomed to seeing in the past few decades. Overall, it was a good win for the Rockets, and now here are three takeaways from last night’s game.
Kobe Bryant isn’t concerned how he fits in with the greatest of all times. Meanwhile, Westbrook was at his best finding teammates, as he finished with his 18th double-double of the season (13 points, 11 assists) in the Thunder’s 118-78 win Saturday evening. The Thunder won for the fifth straight time against the Lakers. Russell Westbrook led the offense with 27 points and 10 assists, Kevin Durant added 25 points while Serge Ibaka added 23 points, but it still wasn’t enough to get past the Cavaliers who flipped the game on its head with a 23-4 run late in the third quarter. “We didn’t play as a team”, Randle said.
Though Oklahoma City outmatched the Lakers, the LA young players – D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle – refused to collaborate their coach’s fear that they were scared of the Thunder.
Kevin Durant was stroking early on in the contest, and scored 14 points alone in the opening frame. “You can get excited about that”, said George Belch, chairman of the San Diego State University marketing department.
“I told him that the next time he does something exciting, I’m just going to do this”, Russell said, holding up two fingers.
“With life being as brutal as it is, we come to sport as an escape”.
“The way I look at it, I just want to look at my legacy and how it impacts the future of the game”, he said.
Lakers Coach Byron Scott called the team’s popularity “a little bit” surprising based on their record.
It’s hard to think about life after Kobe Bryant at this point; mainly because we all know that it’s going to be even uglier than this season. The Thunder wore their alternate sleeved jerseys.
“I would have loved to play overseas for a season”, Bryant said Monday, per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.
He dunked Thursday for the first time this season, an impressive slam in which he moved past Houston forward Trevor Ariza and beat power forward Clint Capela.
“It was tough to go through”, Durant said.
The Laker star admitted in his retirement letter that his body has started to give out on him, especially after battling devastating injuries in the past three seasons.
The Lakers are off until Tuesday, when they visit the Denver Nuggets.
“I will always be around, not just from a Lakers standpoint but also for players around the league, just to be a mentor”, he said. Saturday marked his fourth missed game – he sat out two last month because of a sore back and another one so he could rest.
