Stolen Red Sox World Series Ring Discovered In Quincy Drug Bust
Boston ended an 86-year World Series drought in 2004, improbably overcoming a 3-0 deficit against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship by winning the proceeding four games. Somehow, a piece of that history was in the hands of an alleged drug dealer. But that’s exactly what happened when police conducted the raid.
Police say a stolen 2004 World Series ring was among the drugs, cash and police scanners they seized in a raid Tuesday on a prescription pill ring operating out of a Hall Place home, the Patriot Ledger reported.
Inside Leclair’s home, officers also found multiple police scanners, a money-counting machine, more than $9,000 in cash, and the World Series ring, which Dougan said belongs to a Red Sox office employee.
Leclair was charged with drug offenses and one count of receiving stolen property valued over $250. Dougan says it is unclear how the ring wound up in the home. “White was charged with drug distribution and possession; Green was charged with drug possession”, according to MyFoxBoston.com. The man who sold the ring – former Major League Baseball scout Cucho Rodriguez – did so to give himself “security” if he fell ill.
