Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland dead at 48
The 47-year old Black was eventually arrested for alleged possession of controlled substance.
Bloomington police said, after executing a search warrant, they had discovered a small amount of a substance that tested positive as cocaine in the bedroom where Weiland was.
Weiland is best-known for being the lead singer in the band Stone Temple Pilots.
Police released no additional information on Weiland’s cause of death. The investigation into Weiland’s death is on-going, reports the Star Tribune.

The death of Weiland – a two-time recipient of the music industry’s Grammy award – was reported on the singer’s Facebook page early Friday.

Eric Kretz and brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo called Weiland “gifted beyond words” and said, “Part of that gift was part of your curse”.
Scott’s wife Jamie Weiland told TMZ that her husband was drug free for years, although she admitted that he had been drinking socially.
Weiland was dogged by substance abuse problems throughout his career.
Tributes have also poured in on social media from the likes of Alice Cooper, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Travis Barker, Joe Perry, and Weiland’s ex-Velvet Revolver bandmates Slash and Dave Kushner.
The 1992 album Core, featuring radio favorites Creep and Plush was a smash hit, certified eight times platinum and selling more than one million copies in the U.S.
It’s also unknown if the pending drug possession charges against Thomas Black could ultimately include charges directly related to the death of Scott Weiland, should it be determined that cocaine did contribute to his death.
