Stop Everything Because “My Best Friend’s Wedding” Is Becoming A TV Show
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the single-camera comedy will be executive produced by Bass, Jerry and Janet Zucker, who worked on the film, and Mike Menchel.
My Best Friend’s Wedding, starring Julia Roberts (and Cameron Diaz before she was CAMERON DIAZ), has remained a favorite romantic comedy since its 1997 premiere.
It’s been almost 20 years since My Best Friend’s Wedding set the romcom standard and only now is the hit movie is getting a TV sequel. Amento will co-produce.
The ABC series isn’t the only remake, though.

The show will pick up where the movie left off, with Julia Roberts and her must-have accessory of the mid-2000s – Rupert Everett as her gay, white bestie – navigating good ol’ New York City.
The movie told the story of Julianne Potter, who has made a pact with her best friend Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney) that if neither was married by the time they were 28, they would marry each other.
