Major universities including Alabama and Auburn also are closed, and many churches have called off Wednesday night activities. Those areas could get hail, flooding, high winds and possible tornadoes. The warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m.
The National Weather Service in Mobile said the main concerns are damaging winds of up to 70 miles per hour or more, large hail and isolated tornadoes – some of which could be strong.
