All beaches in Los Angeles County were cleared Saturday morning due to lightning strikes along the coastline, the Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeted. About 16,000 Southern California Edison customers were impacted by the power outage, including communities in Arrowhead, Redlands, Wildomar, Victorville, Foothill, Menifee, Compton and Whittier, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Meteorologists are also warning of risky ocean conditions, including rip currents and 8-foot waves.
“Our weekend weather will be heavily influenced by Tropical Storm Dolores”, Mendiola said.
Beaches were first closed from 8:10 to 9:50 a.m., and the afternoon closure was to stretch through at least 4:30 p.m., lifeguards said.
“We will also see high surf at our beaches and an increase in our humidity”.
A flood advisory for Los Angeles and Ventura counties was in effect until 6:15 p.m.
