Stormy weather could hit Isle of Wight, Met Office warns
According to forecasters you should make the most of it as outbreaks of showery rain turning torrential and thundery across northern England has been predicted this afternoon.
“Northern England and south east Scotland are now judged the most likely area to see scattered thundery downpours, but even here many places will have no more than light rain”.
The temperature has hit record highs this week but the national forecaster says heavy rain will hit the south coast tomorrow and on Friday.
The first warning is valid from 2pm on Thursday until just before midnight.
It has issued a yellow weather warning for scattered downpours of torrential rain and thunderstorms, after the region enjoyed a day of hot and humid weather.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Please be aware that whilst many places will miss them, there is the risk of flash flooding”.
Early tomorrow, a weather front from the Atlantic will merge with warm, unstable air to bring more than 50mm of rain in a few hours in some places.
Whilst the vast majority of the country will have much less than this, it could cause disruption, especially if heavier bursts coincide with urban areas.
