‘Straight Outta Compton’ director set for ‘Fast & Furious’
His inclusion to the Fast & Furious franchise adds to its overall diverse nature.
Gary Gray has confirmed he’ll helm the eighth film in Universal Pictures’ blockbuster “Fast and the Furious” franchise.
This is yet another highlight after directing the surprise success that was Straight Outta Compton. The picture shows the two meeting in front of a collage of “Fast & Furious” stills, presumably discussing the directorial gig that now belongs to Gray. After all, he directed Friday, which is still-20 years later!-making its way anew into the pop culture vernacular.
VIN Diesel is known for his rock hard abs and bulging biceps.
Gray later collaborated again with Ice Cube behind-the-scenes of his most recent box-office hit, Straight Outta Compton. “I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga (sic)”.
Universal along with Diesel and Moritz, who are producing the film, have been struggling to find a new director for the upcoming movie after James Wan chose to leave the franchise.
For his part, Vin Diesel’s lobbying for the return of Rob Cohen, the director of the 2001 original.
“There has always been the desire by Paul [Walker] to have Rob [Cohen] direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign”, Diesel wrote on a Facebook post. The film is slated to release in April 2017. Gray’s also previously worked with Diesel on A Man Apart, as well as star Dwayne Johnson in Be Cool, and Jason Statham in The Italian Job.
