Straight Outta Compton sequel to focus on Tupac and Snoop Dogg

The other premiere of the week fell flat, opening with $8.2 million, even though the horror sequel was expected to debut around $10 to $12 million.

Of the new films hitting multiplexes, “Sinister 2” performed the best of an inert bunch. In a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, Universal Pictures denied any plans of a Straight Outta Compton sequel.

In the weekend’s fourth spot was a newcomer from 20th Century Fox, “Hitman: Agent 47″. “Sinister 2” – $10.6 million 4. It stars Rupert Friend as genetically enhanced assassin Agent 47. “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart also features.

The impressive run for “Compton“, which cost $29 million to make, hasn’t been without controversy, however.

Tom Cruise’s fifth turn as agent Ethan Hunt in Rogue Nation continues to do solid business and, due to the lackluster performances by the three newbies, it took the No. 2 spot at the domestic box office this weekend with an estimated $11.7 million. But the bottom line is that as of now, the film has brought in $115.00 million domestically. They often have a good opening weekend, then fade. Jurassic World closely approaches a billion internationally with $983 million overseas and $1.6 billion globally. Sales for the year to date increased 6.1 percent to $7.45 billion.
