Strictly Come Dancing 2015: Katie Derham joins the line-up
The 39-year-old actress, from Great Wakering, who is best known for playing Linda Carter alongside Danny Dyer in the BBC1 soap, will show off her skills on the dancefloor.
“I am so excited to be part of Strictly 2015!”
TV presenter Katie Derham is the fifth celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.
She is a BBC presenter for Proms (an annual eight week season of classical music concerts) and also presents on Radio 3, and has hosted the Classical BRIT Awards.
She once admitted she was “slightly obsessed” with the BBC’s popular dance show, which is hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. “I’ve got the lights & dance floor, now all I need are some moves…” Two glasses of Prosecco and I’m truly fabulous.
“The first is that as I will be turning 40 next year, so I think it’s the ideal time for a new, exciting challenge”.
The newscaster and presenter, who has a musical background, joined ITV in 1998 becoming the youngest newscaster on British national television and the youngest in ITN history.
Vine leads the betting with Coral offering odds of 25-1, with Harriott at 40-1 and Bright at 50- 1.
More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced in due course. “I have only been for one dress fitting and they are everywhere already”, she told BBC Breakfast.
