Strong winds and showers batter UK holiday makers
A yellow weather warning for Wales, the West Midlands, London and the south-east as well as the south-west has been issued by the Met Office.
Coastal gales of over 50mph and inland gusts of between 40 and 45mph are presenting difficulties during holiday high-season.
The spokesperson added: “The public should be aware of the potential for a few minor disruption to outdoor activities and hard driving conditions”.
The Met Office’s Simon Partridge urged particular caution for those towing caravans, saying: “The reason for the weather warning is really the time of year”.
The Romsey Community Games and Sports Fair was cancelled along with the Daily-Echo backed Jock Oram Duck race in Meonstoke, while the popular Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show was cut short due to the torrential rain. However, it’s worth mentioning it will be quite breezy out and about.
Showers, a few of which could be thundery, are expected to be slow-moving across northern and eastern parts of England.
“As we head into Thursday and Friday, those showers should ease up and we should see a few dry days with patchy sunshine”.
It also be another wet day with temperatures reaching highs of 16C. “It’s too early to say how the weekend is looking”.
