Students Charged in Connection to Teen’s Death Appear in Court
Lovell went missing from her home in Blacksburg on Wednesday.
Nicole Madison Lovell, a 13-year-old who was abducted and killed for motives that are still under investigation, is being remembered by people who knew her as an “angel”.
The principals at the Maryland high schools describe the former students as involved in extracurricular activities and focused on academics.
Eisenhauer, originally from Columbia, Maryland, was an outstanding high school runner and three-time state champion in track, according to the Roanoke Times.
Eisenhauer was a member of the Virginia Tech cross country team, but was immediately suspended after his arrest, a university spokesperson said.
Calls from 11 News to the attorneys representing Eisenhauer and Keepers have yet to be returned. Eisenhauer is charged with murder and kidnapping in the death of Nicole Madison Lovell.
Both Eisenhauer and Keepers were promising students at Tech.
Her family found a dresser pushed against her bedroom door and believed she climbed out of a window, according to the Roanoke Times. He says Keepers was a great girl and also “loner-type” who kept to herself. Her disappearance sparked a massive police search which authorities say, led them to eisenhauer.
A school official says additional counselors were brought in to Blacksburg Middle School to help students grieving over the death of their classmate. Authorities are working to reconstruct a timeline leading up to her death. Natalie Keepers, 18, a Laurel resident accused of helping dispose of the girl’s body, was arrested on Sunday.
Lovell’s mother, Tammy Weeks, told The Washington Post her daughter had survived a liver transplant, MRSA and lymphoma when she was 5. Drake said she could not confirm that because of privacy laws, but she said the county’s schools have anti-bullying programs.
Their appearance Monday was in Montgomery County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
Eisenhauer was appointed lawyer Chris Tuck. “Where she was located was a wooded area off of Highway 89, some distance off the highway”, Surry County, North Carolina, Sheriff Graham Atkinson said.
Nicole’s mother said she was heartbroken that he girl who had endured such hardship would end up being preyed upon by the suspect.
Keepers also appeared, handcuffed and shackled in an orange jumpsuit. She is charged with improper disposal of a body and accessory after the fact. She told Judge Robert Viar Jr. she understands the charges.
Eisenhauer’s hearing happened ahead of schedule and out of sight of reporters on Monday. Neither has entered a plea.
Some of the girl’s friends learned of her death Saturday night at a candlelight vigil held near her home, reported CNN affiliate WFXR.
Nicole didn’t like going to school because girls called her fat and talked about the scars from her transplant, Weeks said.
“God got her through all that, and she fought through all that, and (Eisenhauer) took her life”, she said.
Police have charged an 18-year-old Virginia Tech student, David Eisenhauer of Columbia, Maryland, with first-degree murder and abduction.

The body was subsequently transported to the office of the Roanoke chief medical officer for autopsy. Keepers, 19, allegedly helped Eisenhauer dispose of Lovell’s body, according to police.
Nicole’s father, David Lovell, said on Thursday, “I’m not mad at you.
She was an angel here on Earth and she’s an angel now”, Mr. Draper told The Associated Press on Sunday. “That’s the problem we face these days is that there’s really nowhere a child can be fully protected if they have a device that connects to the internet and their parents don’t know what they’re doing on that device”, he said.
