Sturridge could return for Liverpool
Is this the best thing Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have EVER done? But the idea with Klopp is to press and to be aggressive.
In it, he goes into the tactical mindset behind the win, as well as why it wasn’t a ideal result. Until his substitution, he and Roberto Firmino had been running City ragged. It’s well worth your time.
“I want my family and friends to be proud of me, and I want to be proud of me”.
But while Klopp’s tactical alterations could be behind the improvement in the Reds side, Mignolet has made the humorous revelation that his hugs for “all the players” is helping them get a “good feeling”. That’s what we tried to do.
They drew their first three matches in Group B 1-1, starting with the away game against Bordeaux, then won 1-0 away to Rubin Kazan to stand second in the table two points behind leaders Sion. Simon Mignolet had no chance.
Klopp will undoubtedly be hoping that his players can find that consistency, while the fitness levels will naturally improve as they continue to execute his game-plan with high energy and commitment.
“We just never seemed to get going”, Delph said.
“They have all bought into his work ethic and into his tactics. But I tell you what, the way Liverpool press, you’re going to have to play really well to get through them”. We have to learn how to handle this.
“There is not a big difference between home and away games, we’re usually on the way to playing better at home”. But we played very well [against City]. We don’t have to think about this. But I was too upset. It was because they could train together, and Benteke was not with us. The money is in the Champions League but I can ” t promise it now. “Sometimes you can be sat defending and concede easy goals and you lose the game”. Christian, when he came in, was brilliant.
To have Sturridge on the bench, and you don’t have to bring him in, because four days in training is nothing. Only two weeks ago we lost to Palace. We’ll have to leave very little space for their players.
“We’ve had home games where we’ve had lots of shots, but the ball hasn’t gone in for us and it’s been frustrating”, he said.
“I do not think that it changes, though, a few fundamental problems they still have – when Vincent Kompany does not play, you can see that they struggle at the back”. He’s always there at the side of the pitch, I love his enthusiasm, it’s like he goes on the pitch with them – he’s like a twelfth man.
