Subramanian Swamy to address seminar on Ram Temple construction at DU today
The SP leader, who is also a member of the legislative council, said regardless of being a Muslim, he held great reverence for Lord Rama.
Swamy further claimed that most people from the Muslim community were not opposed to the construction of the temple as Hindus are in favour of a Masjid across the Saryu river in Ayodhya.
After Subramanian Swamy, another BJP leader on Friday said Ram Temple would be constructed at Ayodhya before the 2019 general elections. We have started and we will not give up until it is made but nothing will be done forcibly and against the law. “We booked the venue for the seminar in DU because I am a teacher here and in my capacity I could book the venue, which is available to anyone who wants to conduct any academic activity here”, he added.
“Rajiv Gandhi had promised me that he will extend full-hearted support for Ram Mandir”. He launched his (1989) election campaign from Faizabad (Ayodhya’s twin town) with the promise of bringing Ram Rajya. “If they want to protest outside they can, but if they disrupt the law and order then police should take proper action”, he said.
Swamy is slated to address a seminar on the construction of the controversial Ram Temple in Ayodhya at Delhi University. We were not a new country after partition.
The Sangh Parivar affiliate also expressed confidence that a “grand Ram Mandir’ will become a reality during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure”.
The two-day seminar titled “Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Temple: Emerging Scenario” and beginning today is being organised at DU’s Arts Faculty by Arundhati Vashishtha Anusandhan Peeth (AVAP), a research organisation founded by late VHP leader Ashok Singhal.
Meanwhile, the students’ wing of Congress party, National Students Union of India (NSUI), All India Students’ Association (AISA) and the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) protested outside the venue of the seminar, saying the event aimed at polarising. Swamy is the chairman of AVAP.
