Suge Knight and Katt Williams To Stand Trial For Robbery
After a preliminary hearing that lasted only one hour, Judge Ronald Coen of the Los Angeles Superior Court heard testimony and determined that there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial, Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the L.A. County district attorney’s office, told The Los Angeles Times.
An arraignment hearing for Knight and Williams has been set for October 27.
TMZ reports that the former Death Row Records mogul spent Legend’s birthday with his son where dreams come true past year – Disneyland.
Knight is charged with robbery after a celebrity photographer accused him and comedian Katt Williams of taking her camera in Beverly Hills in September. They have each plead not guilty.
The defense for both Williams and Knight said they were trying to prevent Knight’s young son from being photographed.
He said Knight was upset because Leslie Redden and another photographer were shooting images of son just says after Knight was wounded in a nightclub shooting. “Any father would have acted as he did”. Redden said she never recovered her professional camera, which was taken by a woman who attacked her and Williams.
Meanwhile, attorneys for Williams argued felony charges against him were not warranted because he has cooperated with authorities through every step of the investigation and always believed Redden’s camera would be returned to her. Knight also reportedly ordered a female companion to chase and physically assault Redden.
Billboard reported that despite the video evidence, both Knight and Williams have pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Knight was charged with murder and attempted murder after he allegedly ran over two men outside a Compton burger stand in January, killing Terry Carter and seriously injuring Cle “Bone” Sloan.
“That is the cross one has to bear”, Redden said, regarding her public testimony.
Knight is now in prison and if convicted in either case faces a life sentence because of his previous convictions.
