Suge Knight to face trial on charge of stealing paparazzo’s camera
Billboard reports that Knight was set to be in court earlier today on charges related to an incident in which a paparazzo accused him and Katt Williams of taking her camera in Beverly Hills in September of a year ago.
Redden testified that she was videotaping Knight in an alley in Beverly Hills when he charged towards her.
Knight and Katt Williams both pled not guilty to the charges surrounding the incident where they allegedly stole a celebrity reporter’s camera. He is also heading to trial for those accusations, to which he has pleaded not guilty, and is due back in court for that case on 11 December (15).
Attorneys for Williams and Knight said their clients were trying to prevent the photographer from shooting images of Knight’s young son. “He was very angry and belligerent and calling me a bitch”, Redden told the judge.
After chasing her, Beverly Hills police said the pair “forcibly” grabbed her camera.
Surveillance video showed another man walking with what appeared to be the larger of her two cameras moments later, she said of the footage shown in court.
His lawyers said in court they’re seeking permission for Knight to receive visits from his children and their legal guardians while he’s incarcerated under a strict protective order. She said the camera was filming during her encounter with Knight for “safety reasons” and likened it to a police dash camera. William’s attorney Shawn Holley said her client’s involvement was “brief” and “fleeting” and that he had only taken the camera after someone handed it to him.
“It’s pretty understandable.” Mesereau said that Knight was rightly anxious that Redden was putting his son in danger and noted that video of the child eventually ended up on YouTube. Outside the courtroom, Mesereau said he was disappointed by the court’s decision.
Knight – while free on bail in the robbery case – allegedly drove his pickup truck backward and forward, killing Terry Carter, 55, and injuring 51- year-old Cle Stone, about 2:55 p.m. January 29 in the parking lot of Tam’s Burgers in the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue near Central Avenue.
