Sunderland complete loan signing of Yann M’Vila from Rubin Kazan
M’Vila becomes the fifth summer addition to Sunderland’s squad alongside Jeremain Lens, Younes Kaboul, Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthew.
Sunderland have signed French global midfielder Yann M’Vila on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan, with an option to make the deal permanent after that, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.
M’Vila was all set to sign for Dynamo Moscow on loan before trashing his new house and buying an axe for protection after claims of extorting money were made against the Dynamo Head of Security.
“I’m very happy to be a Sunderland player”, he was quoted as saying by the Sunderland website.
Former Rennes boss Frederic Antonetti once spoke to FIFA.com about M’Vila, saying: “He reads the game like Claude Makelele, has the presence of Patrick Vieira and can pass the ball like Yaya Toure”.
“I’m a midfielder who has good vision and I’m a good passer of the ball; I like to play box to box but I can also sit in front of the back four and protect the defence”.
“The Premier League presents a fresh challenge for him, its one I know he is relishing and we are delighted to welcome him to the club”.
Sunderland struggled against relegation last season and appointed Dick Advocaat at the last minute to maintain their Premier League status and the Dutchman succeeded in his attempt to help the Black Cats stay in the English top flight.
