Sunderland striker Defoe advertises for new PA!

Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is seeking an executive personal assistant to water his plants, do his dry cleaning and plan annual events including Christmas and family birthdays.

As well as answering phone calls and responding to emails, the advert, which appears on secsinthecity.co.uk – a site that specialises in finding personal assistants – says candidates would tend to Defoe’s personal needs including “drycleaners, gardeners, house refurbishments, sourcing interior designers and everyday task”.

The advert states that the individual must be “very flexible, hands-on and be capable [of] multitasking”.

The London-based job could earn the lucky applicant up to £60,000 a year – but that salary comes at a cost.

The briefing gives an insight into the life of a professional footballer, and appeals for someone who can schedule the 32-year-old’s family’s private, social and business plans, arranging public appearances, travel arrangements and business projects and maintaining daily itineraries.

The successful candidate will need to manage the diaries of Jermain, who scored in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Swansea at home, and his mum Sandra. They are expected to “create a global brand for the Jermain Defoe name”, helping to grow the footballer’s reputation on social media and in the media, as well as producing iPhone apps for him.

The former Spurs striker also wants his PA to look to the future, creating his own clothing line and sports mentoring agency.
