Suns guard Bledsoe to have knee surgery
He’s in the second season of a five-year, $70 million deal.
Bledsoe, the Suns’ leading scorer, sustained the injury on Saturday during a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Their on-ball defense has been among the league’s worst, according to Bright Side of the Sun and yet, they still rank 20th in the league for overall defense.
The Suns are now 12th in the Western Conference standings with a 12-20 record, and it seems like they will be missing the playoffs for another season. “We have to figure out a way to get that confidence back in them and continue to play”.
Meanwhile, this latest setback will force the six-year veteran to have surgery, which the Suns organization said will be performed on Tuesday by the team’s resident orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tom Carter.
Here’s to hoping for as smooth and quick of a recovery as possible for Bledsoe, and that he comes back even better than ever next season. “You’re out longer but it’s the best thing for your joint and knee”. If you just cut it out, you wind up being bone on bone.
Bledsoe previously tore a meniscus in his right knee and had it repaired in 2011. Now with the loss of Bledsoe things will likely get worse, as sudden and unexpected responsibilities will be dropped right into the lap of rookie Devin Booker, who has only averaged 14.9 minutes per game up to this point.
The 6-foot-1 point guard was averaging career-bests of 20.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game this season.
