Suns suspend Markieff Morris for 2 games
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the team suspended Morris for two games Thursday.
The incident occurred during Wednesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets.
After starting all 82 games last season, as well as every game in which he played over the first five weeks of this season, Morris has been coming off the bench of late for Phoenix, which has been in a tailspin since late November. With the Nuggets leading 84-75, and 9:47 seconds left Morris was taken off. The 26-year-old forward was recently benched by Suns’ headcoach Hornacek.
“He’s mad about not playing”, Hornacek told The Arizona Republic. I look at the stat sheet, he’s a minus-13 in 12 minutes. Landry contributed 10 points and 13 minutes and plans to be a good example-setter for the struggling young squad. “There, I took him out”, Hornacek said after Wednesday’s game.
As for Morris’ response last night regarding the tossed towel?
– Keef Morris (@Keefmorris) December 24, 2015In no way was that towel intended for him. Phoenix will play the 1-30 Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday and the 19-7 Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday during Morris’ suspension.
Morris has sought a trade from the Suns since they traded his brother, Marcus Morris, to the Detroit Pistons. “I think my experience will definitely help because I am a little bit multi-dimensional at my position”, Landry told reporters. He sat out several games due to coach’s decision. “It is between me and Coach Hornacek”.
