Super Bowl 50 gets second-highest overnight rating
Following the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, Peyton Manning called Cam Newton “extremely humble” in defeat during an appearance on the Today Show on Monday.
According to Nielsen overnight numbers, Super Bowl 50 on CBS averaged a 49.0 household rating in the 56 markets, peaking with a 51.0 rating for the final 15 minutes (10 p.m.to 10:15 p.m. ET). The former Colts quarterback won his second Super Bowl on Sunday night as the Broncos beat the Panthers. TV cameras caught him drinking Gatorade inside the stadium during the pre-game ceremonies, and he air-kissed Papa John’s founder John Schnatter on the field after the win.
Manning wasn’t paid for the promotion, Anheuser-Busch head of marketing Lisa Weser said in a tweet, and it is against National Football League rules for players to endorse alcoholic brands.
“I want players that hate to lose”, Gettleman said.
“I was just focused on whether they’d go for two and uh, the defense had to step up and make some stops”, Eli told a cameraperson while riding an airport escalator. Newton was sacked seven times — twice fumbling the ball, one of which was returned for a touchdown by the Broncos – and completed 18 of 41 passes for 265 yards. “I didn’t want to talk to the media at the time”.
The quarterback went on to say, “Who are you to say that your way is right?” I think everyone on our team is not happy, so why should we be all smiles after? I want the buses to be late to the airport if we’re traveling.
