British rock band Coldplay took the stage for the highly-anticipated Super Bowl 50 halftime show and did a smashing job.
Coldplay kicked things off right with a rousing performance of “Viva La Vida”, backed by a children’s string orchestra and surrounded by a sea of screaming, jumping fans.
A montage played during one of Coldplay’s songs on Sunday that showed some memorable past halftime shows including Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Prince.
At the end of the day, while we all know the Superbowl is an evening of champions, both in sports and entertainment, on this night’s spectacular halftime show, it took it to another level.

The energy on the field soared even higher when Martin introduced Mars, who sang and grooved with a backup band and dancers to “Uptown Funk”.

Once that was over, we got BEYONCE, also clad in black leather, performing her new trackFormation (the video dropped on Saturday) alongside a drumline and a crew of similarly-dressed dancers.
Billed as “The Formation World Tour”, the trek launches April 27 in Miami with 21 additional stadium dates throughout the U.S including a May 14th date at the Rose Bowl.
Mars and Beyonce’s tracks mixed together to create the ultimate crowd pleaser in a face-off as “Formation” ended.
The Denver Broncos eventually beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 to win the Super Bowl.
