Super Bowl 50: Lady Gaga odd choice for national anthem? Absolutely not
The prop bets start early on Super Bowl 2016, even before the big game’s kickoff at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Arguably the best ever performance was done by Whitney Houston in 1991, and it has to be said that Lady Gaga was getting seriously close to that level this weekend.
Gaga could always sing her face off, but that fact began to get lost amid the distractions that became her narrative.
Lady Gaga belted the American national anthem wearing a red suit with a pianist playing his instrument of choice next to her. She ranks as one of the most successful performers of the 21st century, having reportedly sold more than 25 million albums and almost 150 million singles worldwide since breaking onto the scene with the 2008 major-label debut “The Fame”.
Though most say, music heals, Lady Gaga’s performance during the Super Bowl has been a strong evidence for that.
Lady Gaga’s vocals were just as memorable as her flashy patriotic outfit during her performance at Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night.
Gaga opened the show with a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner”. She reminded us that she has one hell of a voice without making it all about her.
There’s some controversy surrounding Lady Gaga’s national anthem time.
Oh, and here she is dancing along to Coldplay’s halftime show, which also saw the brilliant Beyoncé perform her latest surprise track Formation.
She took her time singing, bringing in the song around the 2 minute and 22 second mark, 25 seconds longer than the average time over the last 10 anthems, according to Super Bowl oddsmakers.
Gaga, who was joined by her mother Cynthia and fiancé Taylor Kinney at the sporting showdown, continued: “It was really wonderful, the athletes were just kind of majestic standing up there, singing for the fans in the stands and all over the world, it was so cool”.
