Super Bowl Commercials: Steve Harvey mocks Miss Universe controversy for T
“I have to apologize, again“, jokes Harvey.
Who better to come out and read results on a Super Bowl commercial than Steve Harvey?
He makes fun of his mistake in a hilarious T-Mobile commercial that debuted during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.
The T-Mobile spot starts out with an announcer and looks similar to the Verizon ad, but then Harvey appears and apologizes to T-Mobile customers for what he says are claims about T-Mobile’s coverage based on last year’s numbers. If somehow you missed it, Harvey announced the wrong victor of the Miss Universe contest before announcing the right name.
Mr. Harvey alluded to T-mobile by using the #ballogize hashtag before kickoff, but did not directly mention the carrier. “And with more LTE towers than Verizon, T-Mobile reaches pretty much everyone they do”.
The commercial ends with Harvey rejoicing that he isn’t the one who made the mistake this time but it was Verizon. “Uh uh. Verizon got it wrong!” “Not me”, he said in the ad. However, it didn’t take T-Mobile too long to discover that the survey was over a year old, and didn’t include T-Mobile’s 700MHz Extended 4G LTE service.
