Super Eagles Move Up In FIFA Rankings
Egypt have risen three places as Federation Internationale de Football Association release their monthly ranking for the month of January to move up to the 55th place worldwide.
Cape Verde is second after gaining six positions while Algeria and Ghana slot in at numbers three and four in the continent and 36 and 41 in the world.
The top five countries, in descending order in the World rankings are Belgium, Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile.
Brazil retained their 6th spot, with Portugal, Colombia, England and Austria completing the top ten in the world.
The only new entries in the top 20 teams are Hungary (19) and Turkey (20), which was mainly caused by African team, Ivory Coast’s massive drop.
The representation of the other confederations in the top 50 has not changed for the February Ranking (CONMEBOL: 8; CONCACAF: 4; AFC: 1; OFC: 0).
The Wasps won three of their six matches played since early January and also ended 2015 with a shock-upset over African heavyweight, Cote d’Ivoire, in an global friendly played on December 16, 2015.
Meanwhile, with the current 10 best-ranked teams yet to play a game in 2016, the top 10 positions remain unchanged for the February edition of the ranking.
