Super Kings face rejuvenated Daredevils
The Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils will come up against each other for the first time in Match 30 of VIVO IPL 2018.
Delhi recently got a new captain in Shreyas Iyer who replaced Gautam Gambhir.
“It is important for us to get off to a good start”.
Shreyas Iyer has won the toss and chose to field first.
Pant and Shankar made a game of it, combining for a partnership of 88 with some high-quality strokes, Dwayne Bravo conceding 43 from only three overs.
Dominating batting from Shane Watson and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Delhi Daredevils by 13 runs in an Indian Premier League match here on Monday. The venue of the match is at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. However, the yellow brigade continues to maintain the top spot in the points table.
Delhi Daredevils will think they can create another upset in their attempt to make a late surge to the IPL playoffs, Chennai Super Kings will be wary of the team fitness going into this game.
MS Dhoni, the winning captain: “It’s quite bad, but it’s alright”.
Dhoni and Rayudu were at their destructive best as the duo hammered the Delhi bowlers towards the end of the innings and accumulated 79 runs in six overs.
All along, Rayudu played the flawless foil, contributing 28 in a 79-run fourth-wicket stand with Dhoni.
The Chennai batters have fired on more than one occasion, guiding CSK home. And the target proved to be too much for the visitors as the Yellow Brigade got back to winning ways.
Iyer-led DD might smell a “weakling” in CSK which has lost its strike bowler Deepak Chahar who limped off the last match against Mumbai Indians with a hamstring strain and has been ruled out of action at least for two weeks. But in the previous match Chahar got injured so this might worry the Southern outfit. He is the team’s leading wicket taker with 11 scalps from seven games.
Also, all-rounder Watson has six wickets with an economy rate of around eight.
Delhi will also be expecting Rishabh Pant to bounce back, following his golden duck in the last game. The graph of Delhi is exactly opposite to that of Chennai. His batting looks effortless and his 286 runs from eight games have come at a strike rate of almost 170.
With 55 required off the last three, Lungi Ngidi, making his IPL debut, bowled a brilliant over, dismissing Pant and giving away only six runs which sealed the match for CSK.
