Super Mario Maker Update December 21 Adds Web Portal, New Elements
Additionally, the company is making its Super Mario Maker Bookmark webportal live, which should make it a ton easier for players to share, find, and play certain types of levels.
New Super Mario Maker additions mean new opportunities for Patrick Klepek to suffer, which is always a good time in my book. By placing the regular Koopa Clown Car in the course editor and shaking it, players will be able to use its new fire variant, which can spit fireballs and defeat enemies.
World records: Finally, each course will now show you the world-record clear time, which should make for some seriously cool competitive play.
One of the most annoying parts of Super Mario Maker – the Wii U game where players can craft their own 2D Mario adventure – is finding new user-made levels to enjoy.
P Warp Doors: These are not new to Mario games. It’s ideal for creating shoot-’em-up-style courses. These comprehensive options are also accessible on Wii U via the Course World in Super Mario Maker, allowing players to find a course and hit the Play Now button to jump straight into the action. It’s surprising, especially given Nintendo’s history with online updates – thankfully, Super Mario Maker has improved quite a bit over the past few months. It’s a donut shaped platform Mario can bounce off of to reach new heights.
Super Mario Maker Bookmark: Levels that players have bookmarked to play later using the Web portal will be accessible from the Course World tab.
It’ll be interesting to see where Nintendo goes from here – the publisher is clearly listening to its fans when it comes to adding in new features. Once the site launches, players will be able to sign in with their Nintendo IDs and start searching for stages with a litany of different filters. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. While we received a lot of positive feedback on the campaign and the integration of our cars into Mario Kart 8, we also learned that many gamers are skeptical about brands appearing in their games.
