‘Supergirl’ and ‘NCIS: LA’ push terrorism-themed episodes in light of Paris
The reason, the plot for the episode involved Supergirl stopping a series of bombs throughout National City.
According to an insider, the decision was made “out of sensitivity and respect to the events that occurred”.
The world was spooked last weekend over terrorist attacks done in Paris and because of this CBS has decided it will be shuffling terrorism-themed episodes from two of their high-rating shows.
The Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 prompted an outbreak of schedule switches as networks scrubbed away any episode contaning references to terrorism. It’s being replaced by the series’ Thanksgiving episode, originally scheduled to air next week. Variety reported that show creator Bryan Fuller told NBC to pull the plug on the episode, which featured Molly Shannon as a guest start who brainwashed kids into killing other kids on the episode. Networks would no doubt be criticized if they aired programming that viewers stumbled on without knowing it would contain content similar to recent upsetting events.
The Paris premiere of Tom Hardy’s movie “Legend” has been canceled following the terrorist attacks in the French capital on Friday. It will be replaced by an episode concerning a missing woman. An accident transforms an employee at Catco into the villain, Livewire, and Supergirl must come to the rescue.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, 1999 The season three episode “Earshot” of Joss Whedon’s vampire story was pulled and delayed nearly five months.
Additionally, Saturday’s Democratic Presidential Debate, which also aired on CBS, was “significantly reworked” to address the Paris attacks.
