‘Supergirl’ lands on CW’s Monday schedule
The 2016-17 fall season begins in October for The CW, with “Supergirl” joining “Jane The Virgin” on Monday nights and new shows “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency” paired with “The Flash” and “Arrow“, respectively.
“I don’t think it will have a major effect on how [the Supergirl producers] actualize what they do”, Pedowitz said of the move to The CW, which he said is where the show should have been all along. Right now, it’s time to take stock of the new shows CW has coming. The CW has big plans to fold all of its superhero shows into one mega-crossover episode in December, and yes, that includes the newly transferred “Supergirl, “who defected from CBS and is now at the CW”. The network’s decision to space them out rather than bunch them up is an interesting one.
The CW has high hopes for Supergirl, expecting that it will be one of the network’s top three shows watched when its second season premieres this fall.
Next season, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl will join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever.
Supergirl will air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW starting in the fall. Pedowitz called it “a charming romantic comedy. which shares with The Flash a blue-sky optimism”.
New Archie drama Riverdale will be held for mid-season.
Arrow remains on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., providing a lead-in for new drama Frequency, which is based on the 2000 Dennis Quaid film. This means the quirky, but highly acclaimed “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” heads to Friday night at 9 p.m., following the eighth (and possibly final) season of “The Vampire Diaries“. To wit, The CW has released its DC-heavy schedule, teasing the epic crossover to come. “No Tomorrow”, which will air Tuesdays after “The Flash”, follows a no-nonsense woman who falls for a guy who believes that humankind will be destroyed by an asteroid in eight months and has made an “Apocalyst” of everything he wants to do before the world ends.
