Supermoon + Lunar Eclipse = Super Eclipse

This is when the moon passes through the earth’s shadow. For instance, its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter can take its surface temperature which will provide information about the moon’s characteristics. A shadow will fall over the moon starting at 9:07, with the total eclipse beginning at 10:11 and lasting for an hour and 12 minutes.

A super moon occurs when the moon will look bigger and brighter than usual since it will be at its closest approach to the earth as it makes its orbit.

But the proverbial stars only align for this event once every few decades, making this phenomenon much rarer than a supermoon or a lunar eclipse separately. Officials of the United States space agency NASA have confirmed the supermoon and said the rate event will start at about 8:11 pm.

The total eclipse can be seen from North and South America, Europe, Africa and certain areas in West Asia and the eastern Pacific.
