Supernatural Review 11.04 – “Baby”
In the promo a new hybrid creature is revealed and Sam and Dean are hunting it as usual.
“We’ve done things that, for us, seem similar to that, but we’ve certainly never shot an entire show like that”, Padalecki tells Zap2it and a group of media outlets during a visit to the “Supernatural” set. Dean hazes Sam constantly, like a big brother should. There will also be a few more traditional “Supernatural” moments that should be expected, describing the episode to have been done in a very clever manner. Sure, they’ll kill off the occasional supporting character but Sam and Dean must always stay alive and must always be together. We don’t follow the boys around like a usual episode, but instead they come to us, in this case through Baby.
So, buckle up, SPN Family, as executive producer Jeremy Carver gives us a preview of tomorrow night’s ep. He said, “When I read the script, I was like, ‘We never see the boys do this stuff”.
It’s going to take another viewing to decide just where this places among Supernatural’s best episodes but I would at least place it in the company of last year’s “Fan Fiction”.
Getting deep Sam asks Dean if he ever thinks of having more.
Of course, Matt Cohen returning as Papa Winchester in Sam’s vision was especially memorable, as he offered advice on battling the darkness. He even mentioned the fact that he had a vision that could possibly have been from God himself.
The CW’s Supernatural will do something very different for the show’s Wednesday, October 28 episode… they’re doing it from the perspective of the auto, the classic Impala that is affectionately known as “Baby”.
As my best friend said, I think I needed this episode.
There were little details like the mini-fridge Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) brought to the Men of Letters bunker (their personal touch), as well as amusing behind-the-scenes things like the book collections being fake (though not all are – the individual books are real, but the large sets are props) also a (gasp!) television set that comes into play in “Baby”.
So there you have it: Further proof that this upcoming episode is also going to feature at least one element of the season-long arc regarding the Darkness in Amara. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) are dealing with an apocalyptic baby! – you have to hand it to the creative team for a great sleight of hand.
Perhaps one of the most honest parts of this episode of Supernatural was listening as Sam told Dean the truth about getting infected by the Darkness.
