Supporters ‘Betrayed’ By Consideration Of Romney For Sec State
According to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, 2012 GOP presidential nominee and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is being seriously considered for Secretary of State, despite indications Trump-loyalist and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was also eyeing the position.
After her Sunday interview on CNN, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough went after Conway for launching a public attack on Romney and criticized her for trying to “intimidate” Trump.
On Monday, MSNBC’s Morning Joe reported that two sources at the top of Trump’s transition team said they spoke with the president-elect, who was “furious” about Conway’s comments on CNN. But she did say that at the end of the day Trump would be the one to make the decision and she would back him.
Conway noted that Romney was among the contenders for the secretary of state.
“Point is the volume & intensity of grassroots resistance to Romney is breathtaking”, she wrote.

She also questioned Romney’s experience.
“I weigh in privately”, she responded. Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani of NY is also under consideration, as are former CIA Director David Petraeus and Sen.
“… I think we would be enormously disappointed if he [Trump] brought Mitt into any position of authority”, he added.
“And so I think as we’re seeing cabinet picks he’s picking best and brightest”.
Let’s talk about this extraordinary public display of infighting in the Trump campaign over who to choose for secretary of state.
Conway said it is important for Trump to seek to unify the Republican Party by making gestures to those who opposed his candidacy.
After feasting on a meal at the three-Michelin star Jean Georges restaurant in New York City that included garlic soup with frogs legs, scallops and steak, Mr Romney was full of praise for Mr Trump.
Some strategists suggested Monday that Conway’s weekend comments were carefully coordinated so Trump could say he tried to reach out to the party’s establishment wing.
