Surface Book pre-orders sell out on Microsoft’s site
Initially, the most expensive variant of the Surface Book was sold out, and all variants are now out of stock at the Microsoft Store in the US.
All of these accessories also have shipping dates of October 26th, just like Surface Pro 4 pre-orders. Both support USB 3.0, Mini-DisplayPort, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c, Bluetooth 4.0, and even feautre a built in micro-SD port. The Spectre x360 also has an HDMI port for added compatibility, but that’s something a cheap adapter could easily solve. Now, Toshiba is confirming that it will release its own take on the 2-in-1 hybrid with the new DynaPad.
The dynaPad also includes updated versions of Toshiba’s exclusive suite of original business applications that enable users to easily collect, organize and share notes, images and files, including TruNote, TruCapture and TruRecorder, plus new TruNote Clip and TruNote Share apps for capturing screen clips and sharing handwriting in real time. With those words, Microsoft has dared the competition to prove it wrong.
As for specs Toshiba said that there will be two models, each packing an Intel AtomTM X5-Z8300 processor.
Beyond processing power, both devices come standard with relatively similar RAM and storage capacities. A pleasant bonus of this is that the front camera’s broadcasting quality should be pretty high as well, making for smooth, clean video calls. It also takes you to Cortana, the personal digital assistant of Windows operating systems, and Continuum, “which helps people move seamlessly between PC and tablet modes on their Windows 10 devices as well as Xbox One Game Streaming”, Windows posts in a blog. Face recognition software, which is smart enough to avoid being fooled by a photo, will verify that it is indeed the registered user and sign in for them. Still, that’s hardly something to complain about, as both machines should easily last a working day of intensive use.
Welcome to the thin and light laptop smackdown between Dell and Microsoft.
But a top-of-the-line Surface Book with a 512GB SSD, Core i7 with 16GB will cost an eye-watering $2,699 – a staggering £1,760. Secondly, there’s significant overlap between the Surface Book and the new Surface Pro 4, the biggest difference seemingly amounting to which keyboard they attach to.
In this head-to-head matchup, we pit veteran laptop maker Dell against laptop newcomer Microsoft. The good news is that you can still pre-order a few of the variants from Amazon.
The Surface Book is slightly larger than the Surface Pro 4 due to its larger screen: 13.5in against 12.3in.
