The Surface Pro 4 has been given a makeover, inside and out. Microsoft claims that this is the “fastest 13-inch laptop ever made anywhere on any planet”, saying that its performance capability will actually be twice as fast as the MacBook Pro.
Lumia 950, which has a 5.2-inch screen, has a starting price of $549, while the Lumia XL has a 5.7-inch screen and starts at $649. A number of the more advanced features of Windows 10 Mobile, including Windows Hello and the ability to turn your smartphone into a PC using Continuum, will also be absent from most devices as they don’t have the hardware required.
However, the deal for the AT&T will be only for United States and in the areas like Europe the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are reportedly going to be available from all the carriers.
Part of the company’s cloud-first mobile-first strategy, Microsoft unveiled two connected devices – HoloLens and Microsoft Band – as well at an event being live streamed from the city.
That last tweet was a reference to Amazon’s failed launch of the Fire Phone, which was exclusive on AT&T.
The Lumia devices which will get the Windows 10 Mobile update need to have at least 8 GB internal storage and to be running Lumia Denim.
Unlike most convertible tablet notebooks, the Surface Book’s clamshell can be closed fully in a manner similar to a traditional laptop computer. The 950XL comes with an octa-core processor while Lumia 950 features a hexa-core chipset.
Acer’s CEO himself said at the time that Microsoft should continue investing and improving in the software business, while letting others build hardware to run these products.
