Surprises mark Golden Globes

Inarritu, whose “Birdman” swept the Oscars past year, also beat out “The Martian’s” Ridley Scott for the best director award. From the marvelous hosting of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the past three years to glorious little moments like Emma Thompson tossing her shoes in the air, the Globes were starting to get a little bit of air under them – a fun diversion during awards season.
Brie Larson, on the other hand, took home the Best Actress for Motion Picture, Drama, in “Room”.
Despite some diversity in the nominee ranks, the film acting awards were still won exclusively by Caucasians, rousing some worry that the Oscars may follow suit despite increased scrutiny after last year’s #OscarsSoWhite criticisms.

“Carol”:The film came into the Golden Globes Sunday with more nominations than any other movie, but walked away empty-handed. Henson, who is growing in the Entertainment industry, also made her debut this year and won her first Golden Globe award as well.
