Surrey RCMP probing two drive-by shootings in 12 hours
Surrey RCMP are still on the hunt for Basra.
Khosa appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court Friday and was remanded in custody until October. 20.
No one was injured, and police located an abandoned red van a short distance away, Schumann said.
Surrey RCMP is still appealing to the public for information on the whereabouts of Shakiel Basra, the outstanding suspect in that shooting.
But the new charges and the arrest of Samra suggest both men have been around Metro Vancouver in the last week.
Two men fled the vehicle and soon the area was attended by several police, including RCMP Police Dog Services. There’s been as many as 45 shootings, and three deaths, related to what the mounties are calling a turf war between “two groups involved in low-level drug trafficking”.
OCCUPANTS of a black pickup truck and a dark coloured sedan shot at each other as they drove in the 11000-block of 142A Street in Surrey shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday (October 15), Surrey RCMP say.
Police aren’t able to link this shooting to any other similar incidents in recent months, as the investigation is in its early stages.
