Sushil Kumar Shinde denies having uttered “Hindu terrorism” in Parliament
In his statement, Rajnath Singh gave details of the attack and said Punjab Police made every possible effort during the operation. Even Pakistan applauded them. “The minister of the then government complied with the conditions put forth by the hijackers and released and escorted three terrorists including Maulana Masood and Omar Shaikh to Kandahar”, Shinde pointed out.
He said the previous UPA government had coined “Hindu terror” which has weakened India’s stand on terrorism.
India regularly accuses Pakistan’s army of providing covering fire for rebels who infiltrate across the border and then mount attacks in Indian Kashmir. He is on India’s most wanted list.
Immediately after the home minister was done with his statement, the Congress members were back near the speaker’s podium to continue with their protest against Sushma Swaraj. The fight against terrorism is the biggest challenge.
He also said that the government would now try their level best to prevent cross borders attacks in the country as well as put a stop to terrorism.
“Terrorism is terrorism, it has no religion, no caste”, added the Home Minister, who made a statement today in the Lok Sabha on Monday’s Gurdaspur terror attack. As uproar continued, the House was adjourned till 2 pm.
The Opposition members countered that the rules didn’t allow the minister to make a speech beyond the statement, either.
While Swaraj and Raje are accused of helping former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi, who has been living in London since 2011 after being accused of money laundering and corruption, opposition wants Chouhan’s resignation for allowing a massive admission test-cum-recruitment scam in his home state.
Senior Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Shinde ji’s remark on “Hindu Terror” being quoted out of context”.
Reading out a statement on the recent Gurdaspur terror attack, which claimed several lives and injured others, Singh said, “Government has been, and will remain, resolute in this regard”.
Singh slammed the opposition for making parliament seem like a divided house on the serious issue of terrorism.
After the House reassembled, Kharge said: “The home minister played politics to defame previous governments”. “The government is firmly committed to root out terrorism from India. Also, he said it at party forum not Parliament”.
