Suspect Arrested After ‘Hostage-Type’ Situation at Philip Barbour High School
Police say a suspect is in custody following a hostage situation at a West Virginia high school on Tuesday.
Philippi is a town of about 3,000 residents in northcentral West Virginia.
According to its website, Philip Barbour High School is located in Philippi, West Virgina. Baylous confirms “there was a hostage-type situation”.
The incident apparently began around two this afternoon.
Lt. Michael Baylous said Tuesday that students at the school have been evacuated.
They say buses are on the way to school to pick the students up. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Baylous says the suspect was isolated inside the school, and law enforcement officers are working toward taking the suspect into custody.
“The WVSP is on the scene of an incident at Philip Barbour High School in Barbour County”.
