Suspect Identified In Baton Rouge Shooting
Gov. John Bell Edwards told media Sunday afternoon that the gunman committed, “an absolutely unspeakable, heinous attack”. “We hurt for our brothers and sisters at the Baton Rouge Police Department”, the Facebook post read, next to a photo of a Baton Rouge patch and a lit candle.
CBS named the Baton Rouge shooter as Gavin Long, of Kansas City, Missouri.
The shooting death of Sterling followed by the police-involved killing of another black man, Philando Castile in Minnesota less than two weeks ago, sparked national outrage and protests against police brutality.
Warnick said the department would also make police chaplains, peer support team counselors, and social workers available to police officers and their immediate families.

Police departments in Greater Boston warned their officers Sunday to take extra precautions after three law enforcement officials were killed and three others wounded in Baton Rouge Sunday.

Police spokesmen from Baton Rouge and Minneapolis, in statements, said their departments had each made significant strides toward diversity in their forces.
The shooting took place along a highway around 9:00 am (1400 GMT), the statement added. Authorities believe two suspects may still be at large.
On Sunday three police officers were killed, and another three injured, in an ambush-style attack in the city. Three others have been wounded in the Louisiana shooting.
President Barack Obama said the slayings were attacks “on the rule of law and on civilized society, and they have to stop”.
