Suspect in fatal police shooting upset over custody battle

Police, who are receiving support from federal and state law enforcement, offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case, describing the unnamed suspect as a black male wearing a hoodie and baggie trousers.

In the middle of the day on Sunday, 50-year-old Detective Benjamin Marconi was sitting in his patrol auto writing a ticket after pulling over a vehicle outside San Antonio Police headquarters.

The weekend shootings of police officers in San Antonio, St. Louis and two other cities are prompting some police departments to have their officers work in pairs until further notice.

The San Antonio newspaper confirmed that Dane Marconi is the son of the late Detective Marconi.

A Gladstone, Missouri, police officer was shot Sunday night but is expected to survive, according to Fox. While being walked out of the police department Monday, McKane said he had gone through several custody battles and “lashed out at someone who didn’t deserve it”.

Marconi was shot twice Sunday morning as he sat in his patrol vehicle writing a traffic ticket near police headquarters. And in the Dallas shooting, they were targeted by someone in a building. The city said on its website that the suspect was taken into custody a short time later after exchanging gunfire with police. From Philando Castile in Minnesota to the ambush on police in Dallas, this year has seen a number of high profile police killings of unarmed black men, and of retaliation attacks on police. “This officer would have put his life on the line to save the man who killed him”. They said his character is what will be remembered most.

So it’s looking like this was a case of a police officer being targeted for wearing the uniform.
