Suspect paid $90 dollars for prank attack on Kim Jong Nam
Malaysian police said they believed four of the eight North Koreans they were looking for, were already back in the North Korean capital Pyongyang.
Malaysia hasn’t directly accused the North Korean government of being behind the attack.
On Saturday, representatives from the Indonesian and Vietnamese embassies in Malaysia met with the two women. North Korea denies killing the high-profile critic of the regime.
S Subramaniam, Malaysia’s health minister, said on Sunday that an autopsy revealed that Kim Jong-un’s sibling died due to a large amount of VX in his body. But the death of Kim Jong Nam shows that North Korea is willing and able to carry out assassinations on foreign soil, so we may see more of these attacks in the near future.
In grainy surveillance footage, the women appear to smear something onto Kim’s face before walking away in separate directions.
The next step would be to obtain an arrest warrant, Abdul Samah said. They had practiced at a couple of shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, and were instructed to wash their hands after the attack, he said. The authorities also thoroughly searched for any leftover toxin at Kuala Lumpur International Airport over the weekend because the substance does not evaporate easily and on Sunday declared the airport safe.
