Suspected al-Qaeda terrorist arrested in Bengaluru
According to sources, al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) is planning a major terror strike in the country.
He was subsequently produced in a Delhi Court on Thursday which sent him to police custody till January 20.
Delhi Police have arrested a madrassa teacher for allegedly having links with the terrorist outfit al-Qaida in Bengaluru, reports said.
The Delhi Police on Friday said that Anzar Shah, who was arrested for having alleged links with the al-Qaeda, was a “facilitator” involved in sending a recruit overseas for training. He was cautioned by mosque authorities against making hate speeches and provoking the youth.
Shah’s name had popped up in December a year ago after the Special Cell nabbed two al-Qaeda operatives, Zafar Masood and Abdul Rehman. He was asked to get active and provide logistics after being contacted by AQIS operatives. Officials also have details of financial transactions between Shah and the group.
