Suspected DSU killer heard on 911 tapes reporting girlfriend’s murder
Police believe Lamb shot Prentiss some time on Sunday, but did not report the shooting until the following morning when he arrived at Delta State. Lamb then pulled over and took off on foot.
Lamb killed himself with a single.380 pistol shot fired into his forehead in the backyard of a home south of his parents’ residence on the outskirts of Greenville, Miss., said Washington County Coroner Methel Johnson.
“When I got off work, I sat with them and we had a great time”, Shaffer said.

In the call, Lamb tells a dispatcher that police need to send officers over to his home on Santa Cruz Street in Gautier. He said Lamb made the fateful 911 call after that.
On Tuesday night, about 900 people, including faculty members, staff, students, and members of the community, attended a candlelight memorial on the Delta State campus.
Brandon Beavers, an education major, said he had a class with Lamb past year .
He said Lamb was teaching two online courses during the fall semester and did not want a full load, citing medical issues.
Charlie King was in a history class down the hall from where the shooting occurred.
“Without him I wouldn’t have made it through college”, Rapetti said.
The professor gave the students chairs to throw if the shooter came in, said King’s friend, Christopher Walker Todd. Lamb later committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
The 3,500-student university is in Cleveland, in Mississippi’s Delta region near the Arkansas-Mississippi state line.
“Just a happy couple”. Lamb was declared dead, police said. They went into the house and found Prentiss’ body.
Hairston said she was 15 and Lamb was 20 when they met through mutual friends.
“She was completely devastated”.
Schmidt completed his doctorate in history at the University of Kansas in 2007, studying the conflicts between Native American tribes and colonial settlers in Virginia.
The American arm of the famous (or infamous) British tabloid is reporting that “the rage that led gunman Shannon Lamb to kill his girlfriend and a fellow university professor is thought to have been sparked by a spider bite“.
