Suspected serial killing granny may have eaten parts of her victims
Self-confessed serial killer Tamara Samsonova, 68, may have experimented with cannibalism as she brutally murdered each of her 11 victims.
Samsonova kept detailed notes of her macabre activities in a diary alongside more mundane entries about sleeping, drinking coffee and taking her medications, according to reports.
The 68-year-old pensioner was arrested in St. Petersburg last week after security footage showed what appeared to be Samsonova hauling plastic-wrapped body parts from her home to dump by a nearby pond.
The pensioner dubbed the ‘Granny Ripper’ entered details of her secret life in diaries which she kept in Russian, English and German, alongside black magic and astrological books.
Samsonova had been the carer for a 79-year-old woman, Valentina Ulanova, whose body was found without a head.
The elderly butcher allegedly gave Ulanova a dose of sleeping pills and began sawing her apart while the woman was still alive.
St. Petersburg detective Mikhail Timoshatov told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Tamara Samsonova says that at first she made her friend sleep – and then cut her into pieces”.
A dossier report indicates that the woman removed internal organs, in particular lungs from the bodies of her victims. presumably to feast on.
They include a a man whose business card was found at her home and whose remains were found 12 years ago.
A later search of her flat in St Petersburg, Russia, revealed a series of diaries detailing her years of murders, as well as blood smears in the bathroom.
One diary entry is alleged to say: “I killed my tenant Volodya, cut him to pieces in the bathroom with a knife and put the pieces of his body in plastic bags and threw them away in the different parts of Frunzensky district”.
Russian tabloids have gone a step further and labelled her Baba Yaga – a terrifying supernatural old woman from Slavic folklore.
I was getting ready for this court action for dozens of years.
“It was all done deliberately”.
“I knew you would come”, she told reporters, according to The Sunday.
Russian officers are now comparing her elaborate diary entries with known cases of unsolved murder cases where victims were dismembered, and body parts packed in bags strewn around the city. “With this last murder I closed the chapter”, according to the Daily News.
In court, the judge asked the Granny Ripper her thoughts about being jailed.
A source from the investigation said: ‘She’s either much more stupid, or much smarter, than she seems.’. “After all, I am guilty and I deserve a punishment”.
