Suspended Federation Internationale de Football Association chief Blatter in hospital: Spokesman
It is understood he suffered what has been called “a nervous shock” but is expected to make a full recovery.
In a telephone interview, Stoehlker says Blatter “will be back officially in business on Tuesday next week”.
Stoehlker told CNN: “The ethics committee can’t act against an elected official, and the only people who can vote out the president are the 209 associations who elected him in the first place”.
Blatter was suspended by FIFA’s Ethics Committee in October as a result of criminal investigations into alleged corruption within world football’s governing body, with Issa Hayatou replacing him on an interim basis.
Blatter has been in hospital since Friday when his United States based lawyer Richard Cullen issued a statement saying that the Swiss national had been admitted for a checkup.
The embattled president and Platini had said they were innocent and appealed the ruling.
Blatter was elected to a fifth term as FIFA’s president days later, but he has since been engulfed by the scandal.
He and Platini received 90-day suspensions from their executive positions by FIFA’s body’s ethics committee. But four days later he announced he would stand down when a new election is held on February 26. In September, the Swiss attorney general began criminal proceedings against Blatter over alleged financial misconduct, which Blatter has denied.
