Suspension upheld for Giants’ receiver Beckham
Beckham’s appeal was heard on Wednesday afternoon in New York City amid much discussion about what the Panthers did to set Beckham off during the game.
Wing was within earshot of Beckham during warm-ups and said he heard Ball tell Beckham: “I’ll be the reason you don’t play today….” “There was some things on the other side, too, and I think both parties were involved”.
“I don’t spend time ‘oh what did they say?’ ” he said. Last night’s episode of Inside The NFL showed Rivera apologizing to Coughlin following the final whistle: “I’m sorry about my guys’ behavior, coach”. People expect better from me, and I expect better from myself.
Several media outlets reported Monday that Beckham felt intimidated by the Panthers’ pregame actions, which included practice squad safety Marcus Ball carrying a bat and getting into a verbal confrontation with Beckham.
He’ll miss the club’s game Sunday night, in Minnesota, and is barred from team meetings, attending or watching practices, attending the game and having contact with any club personnel except to arrange off-site medical treatment or rehabilitation.
In his Wednesday press conference, Coughlin said it is unfair that Beckham is bearing most of the responsibility when he was clearly provoked.
Every game, all season I owe Coach Coughlin, our coaches and my teammates an apology.
In his apology from the Giants’ website, Beckham made it clear that he was not trying to make any excuses, he just wanted to apologize for his behavior.
Wing backs up Beckham: Giants punter Brad Wing says Beckham was threatened by an unidentified bat-wielding man dressed in Panthers sweats during pre-game warmups Sunday. The two were separated by members of the Giants, including Wing.
He’s one of the greatest receivers I have ever seen and plays with passion.
Odell Beckham Jr.is going to have to serve his one-game suspension.
The Panthers counted 12 Beckham-related incidents during the game in which he was the instigator, including 10 involving Norman.
Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Normanhas been fined a combined $26,044 for two offenses in Sunday’s win over the New York Giants, according to sources.
“There were no flags, no help or any intervention by the officials so I think that kind of just let Odell know what kind of day it was going to be and if anyone was going to stick up for Odell, it had to be himself”.
In a statement released on Twitter, Beckham admitted, “I dropped the ball on sportsmanship on Sunday”. Norman states that his intentional face mask of Beckham on the second play from scrimmage was a response to Beckham’s overblown reaction. Norman also has been fined by the league for his role in the fracas.
